The foundation's mission is to enhance the knowledge of biodiversity for the benefit of life on earth. It focuses on supporting biodiversity informatics that is used to preserve and to sustainably manage biodiversity, especially in those developing economies where it is most threatened. Through the projects it funds, the foundation works to make biodiversity information more widely available to researchers, local communities, conservation practitioners, policy makers and the public.
